Experience African culture in one of the culture workshops. Visit the information market, take a look at photo exhibitions and other types of art and enjoy a delicious cup of Ethiopian coffee in the African coffee-house. Furthermore, the plenary programme offers enough room for culture; while you can enjoy the taste of African beers, the Daughters of Africa will bring the day to a stunning end.
The musical show Daughters of Africa offers promising women from 9 different African countries an opportunity to show their skills on stage. These vital young African women, who fill every place with a positive vibe, will perform in a spectacular show with music that has African roots as well as contemporary spirit. Their performance is a good example of the way in which art and culture can make difficult topics more easy to discuss.
They will perform in Carré and many other theatres in Holland from February till May 2010 and of course at the Africaday 2010. The daughters will bring the Africaday to a spectacular end so make sure you dont miss it!

This exhibition is the result of the cooperation between photographer Frank Berkhout en journalist Edwin Schoon. Together, they travelled through eight different African countries. They show an image varying from leaders and inspiring persons to dictators and powerful merchants. From the pearl in Mozambique Eusébio to the only spark of light in the darkness in, the by war afflicted, Liberia: George Weah. Hope and progress are being chased by the political interests of dictatorship. How does soccer influence the life of African people and how important are sports as an instrument for a ruler in power? This exhibition, which relates to the book Macht van de Bal (the power of soccer) by Edwin Schoon, shows a beautiful mosaic of contradictions.
Respond to subjects related to the workshop at the VoiceOver-stand during the Africaday. On beforehand, you can also discuss at www.voiceover2015.nl. African VoiceOver members will present the outcomes of the online discussion during the Africaday. VoiceOver 2015 is an initiative by NCDO.
