11.15-12.45 Sarabah + Q&A with Sister Fa (vooraf inschrijven verplicht) (onderdeel alleen in het Engels)
It is not easy for women to be successful in Senegal’smale-dominated rap scene. Sister Fa did it, but for the past couple of years she's been fighting an even harder battle. Subjected to female genital mutilation as a child, Sister Fa has been campaigning to protect Senegalese girls from a similar fate. In the documentary  Sarabah she returns to her native village trying to put an end to this centuries-old tradition through music and education. The screening is paired with a Q&A session with Sister Fa.

12.45-13.00 Selection of short movies (Aid or Trade, Brilliant Failures, Voices of Africa & Slum Stories)

14.30-15.05 Peace Beyond Borders

15.05-15:30 Selection of short movies (Aid or Trade, Brilliant Failures, Voices of Africa & Slum Stories)

15:30-16.00 Connecting Dreams (onderdeel alleen in het Engels)
In the discussions on development and technology, 'access' is often an important issue. At times it is even assumed that ensuring access to new ICTs (communication technology) will automatically lead to 'development'. This movie is about African life histories, crossing borders and new communication technologies. It shows the struggles and opportunities that especially mobile phones bring along. "It keeps our dreams alive."

16.00-16.40 Selection of short movies (Aid or Trade, Brilliant Failures, Voices of Africa & Slum Stories)*

Selection of short movies
*
*Aid or Trade (with movies from Malawi, Tazania, South-Africa, Zambia and Ghana)

The goal of Brilliant Failures is to bring about a shift in the way we view failure and promote a positive view of failure. In these films Africans talk about their mistakes they made in their life.

*Voices of Africa (onderdeel alleen in het Engels)
A new initiative to bring out stories is The African Slum Journal. Voices of Africa Media Foundation encourages talented young Africans to play an active role in reporting about their communities by taking advantage of new media. By using their mobile phone, young Africans are trained to voice their issues.

*Slum Stories (with movies from Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria)
A realistic view of the slums, as seen through the eyes of the residents themselves. How do children go to school? Where does everybody use the toilet? And how does the threat of approaching bulldozers feel? Slum Stories is an opportunity for residents in the poorest communities in the world to let their voices be heard. It shows that slums are full of life, inventiveness, dreams and ambitions.
