Prof. Dr. Peter van Lieshout - raadslid van de Wetenschappelijke Raad voor het Regeringsbeleid
Van Lieshout studeerde psychologie en filosofie aan de Universiteit van Utrecht en in Parijs (1976-1983). Hij promoveerde in 1989 in de sociale filosofie aan de universiteit van Groningen. Sinds 1992 is hij parttime hoogleraar Theorie van de zorg aan de Universiteit van Utrecht. Hij was eerder onder meer onderzoeker bij het Nederlands Centrum Geestelijke Volksgezondheid en directeur van het Nederlands Instituut voor Zorg en Welzijn. Daarna was hij werkzaam bij het ministerie van VWS als directeur-generaal Gezondheidszorg en bij het ministerie van SZW als project-directeur-generaal Sociale Zekerheid en Zorg. Prof. Dr. Van Lieshout is hoofdauteur van het WRR rapport Minder pretentie, meer ambitie. Prof. Dr. Peter van Lieshout doet mee aan de volgende workshop.
dr. Karel Arnaut - Antropoloog
Karel Arnaut is antropoloog verbonden aan de Vakgroep Afrikaanse Talen en Culturen (Universiteit Gent). De belangrijkste focus van zijn onderzoek betreft studenten- en jongerenbewegingen, maatschappelijke participatie en transformaties van de publieke ruimte in Ivoorkust (West-Afrika). Daarnaast werkt Arnaut over postkoloniale dynamieken met betrekking tot de beeldvorming, de maatschappelijke positie, en de diasporische identiteiten van Afrika(nen) in België en Europa. Karel Arnaut is co-auteur van Een leeuw in een kooi De grenzen van multicultureel Vlaanderen. Karel Arnaut doet mee aan de volgende workshop.
Meine Pieter van Dijk - Econoom en Hoogleraar
Meine Pieter van Dijk is een invloedrijke, nederlandse econoom en hoogleraar aan verschillende universiteiten en instellingen in Nederland. Hij heeft veel in ontwikkelingslanden gewoond en is consultant geweest voor verschillende NGOs, Onwikkelingsbanken en VN organisaties. Recentelijk heeft hij het boek "the New Presence of China in Africa" uitgebracht. Meine Pieter van Dijk doet mee aan de volgende workshop.
Bert Metz
Bert Metz is een Nederlandse wetenschapper en klimatoloog en is verbonden aan de European Climate Foundation. Hij was onder andere co-voorzitter van de IPCC werkgroep die zich bezighield met maatregelen tegen klimaatverandering. Metz is de afgelopen decennia nauw betrokken geweest bij internationale klimaatonderhandelingen. Zo was hij het hoofd van de Nederlandse delegatie bij de klimaatconferentie in Kyoto. Recentelijk heeft hij een boek gepubliceerd, met de titel Controlling Climate Change. Bert Metz doet mee aan de volgende workshop.
Marcel Rutten
Marcel Rutten is a geographer at the African Studies Centre, Leiden. He has done longitudinal research on land tenure, water development, and food security in semi-arid Africa. In addition he acted as the coordinator of the international observation of the Kenyan 1997 General Elections and published intensively upon election related conflicts (e.g., Out for the Count - The 1997 General Elections and Prospects for Democracy in Kenya (2001; with A. Mazrui and F. Grignon) and 'Weapons of Mass Destruction: Land, Ethnicity and the 2007 Elections in Kenya In: Journal of Contemporary African Studies Vol 27, Nr 3, July 2009: 305-25 (with Sam Owuor)). Monique Kremer
Monique Kremer studied general social sciences at Utrecht University and social policy at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. She was attached as a researcher to the Netherlands Institute for Care and Welfare (NIZW) and Utrecht University, wher she obtained her doctorate. She is involved in the project The future of development aid in a globalising world (De toekomst van ontwikkelingssamenwerking in een globaliserende wereld). Monique Kremer will participate in the following workshop.
Josephine Osikena
Josephine Osikena is the director of the Foreign Policy Centre's programme of research and events focused on democracy and international development. Josephine's research is principally (but not exclusively) focused on Africa south of the Sahara. She has developed considerable expertise in areas including economic growth, environmental sustainability, regional integration, women and development, corporate responsibility, governance, the reform of global multilateral institutions and the influence of migration and diasporas on. Josephine Osikena will participate in the following workshop.
Marijke Steegstra
Marijke Steegstra is a lecturer in Cultural Anthropology at the Radboud University of Nijmegen. Her research interests include life cycle rituals, religion, gender, politics of tradition, and traditional leadership. She has conducted extensive field research in Ghana since 1994. Marijke Steegstra will participate in the following workshop.
Janine Ubink
Janine Ubink is a senior Lecturer in Law in Africa at Leiden University. Her areas of specialization include traditional leadership, customary law, land management, legal empowerment and gender. She has done extensive field research in Ghana and Namibia. She has also advised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the rule of law in developing countries. Janine Ubink will participate in the following workshop.
